Since the story is set in a fantastical world where people who become lonely and depressed turned into monsters, players can expect battles between Kay and horrifying sea monsters. Of course, we cannot discount the combative aspect of the game. The gameplay is a mix of platforming, environmental puzzle-solving, and stealth, so there are lots of things to keep you entertained.

Developer Sabotage Studio’s CEO and Sea of Stars’ creative director, Thierry Boulanger, is a huge fan of the genre and has been building towards making a game. Even just looking at screenshots of the game recalls the best of the era, and that’s not an accident. Sea of Solitude tackles the issue of mental health.
